Thilo Rötger

Thilo Rötger (*24). June 1929 in Ludwigshafen; † December 1, 2021 in Bonn was a German ambassador.
Live life
Rötger studied law in Heidelberg, took both legal examinations and was awarded a doctorate in law in 1953 with a dissertation on the topic of "Strike and lockout under German constitutional law". In 1950 he was one of the co-founders of the Corps Vandalo-Guestphalia Heidelberg.
In 1955, Rötger joined the Federal Foreign Office and, after various positions, which included taking him to UN General Meetings, was the Ambassador to Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus, and finally, until his retirement, the Consul General in Istanbul. After his departure, he remained closely connected with the topic of Turkey and was appointed an honorary member of the German-Turkish Society in 2012, of which he was a long-time board member.
