This species is endemic to Madagascar.

It surrounds the coasts of freshwater and semi-salted pools, oceans, seas, lagoons and rivers. It is found at a depth of 10 to 169 m, at a water temperature of about 12,2 °C and a salinity of 35,4 .

Description
At a length of up to 70 cm and their weight is up to 2900 g.

Their life expectancy is about 10 years.
