Career in mixed martial arts
Initial
At the school level, Boetsch achieved several successes in the free struggle at high school, winning the Maine Championship four times.
He then continued to practice the fight at the University of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
He served as a professional martial arts mixed in 2006.
After six consecutive successes in minor promotions in 2007 Boetsch was hired by the International Fight League to replace an injured fighter and face the future champion Vladimir Matyushenko: Boetsch was defeated at points.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Tim Boetsch has a first experience in UFC in 2008, where he shows up in the middle weights with a 6-1 personal record and begins with a victory over David Heath, obtained in the first round thanks to a slam body followed by a ground and pound.
Subsequently it is put KO by the NCAA champion Matt Hamill.
In September he again defeated Mike Patt again for KO, but in 2009 he failed to get the best on Jason Brilz, who went to the points.
With a 2-2 UFC record, Boetsch is kicked out of the organization and continues the following year with other federations, such as the King of the Cage and the 5150 Combat League, where he will win the category title.
It will be recalled for the second time in UFC in August 2010 to face Thiago Silva: the latter gets injured and is replaced by Todd Brown, opponent against whom Boetsch wins at points.
Subsequently, he was put against a top fighter like Phil Davis: Boetsch can't do anything against the opponent's athleticism and is submissive with Mr. Wonderful, a kimura with arm twist behind the back of the opponent.
Boetsch at that point decides to try to get down in the middle weights: the choice seems to be winning and Boetsch in a series of important victories against the former reality show champion The Ultimate Fighter Kendall Grove and the Canadian Nick Ring, on which he shows his excellent technique in the judo.
Boetsch touches the top of his career in mixed martial arts in 2012, when he makes a huge upset by exposing Yushin Okami, at the time unanimously considered one of the first five average weights in the world, after two rounds dominated by Japanese in the standing fight.
