Club
The son of Glenn and brother of Alexander and Anton, all players, Tobias began his career in the Ubbhults IF and Lundby IF, transferring himself, at the age of 17, to the BK Häcken, team in which he joined until 2004, when signing a four-year contract with the Djurgården. On August 11, 2004, in the Champions League preliminary round, he scored the goal of the temporary double-off against Juventus, thanks to which the Djurgården moved on 0-2 to the Stadium of the Turin Alps (it will end 2-2 and the Scandinavian return will be eliminated). He then wins the 2005 Swedish championship, coming close to the 2006 championship. On 23 August 2006, Sunderland was officially transferred to Sunderland for £ 1.7 million.
Hysén immediately has a good impact with the new club: since the first day, against the West Bromwich, in fact, it gives a good impression of itself, inspiring the second goal. In the direction of Roy Keane, however, he is often preferred by young Ross Wallace; nevertheless, Hysén goes to the Stadium of Light for the first time, in the 1-1 against Leicester City, making a goal a few minutes after his entry into the field. He also scored the first goal in the game ended 2-0 for the Black Cats in Leicester's home, which took place on New Year's Day in 2007.
In late July 2007, it was revealed that Tobias Hysén asked to return to his homeland, as both he and his wife prefer that his son, who was born in January 2008, grew up in Sweden.
On August 25, 2007, he officially passed to IFK Göteborg, returning to his hometown, winning the same year at Allsvenskan 2007. The following year he won the Supercupen and the 2008 Swedish Cup. At the end of the 2009 championship he won the title of leader with 18 goals. He retired from professional football at the end of the Allsvenskan 2018, continuing to play football but leaving the eighth series of the national football system.
National
On several occasions he dressed the jersey of the Under-21, playing with it the European 2004 and reaching the semi-final.
He debuted in the major national team on 22 January 2005 at the friendly match against South Korea. He signed his first major national network on 8 February 2011 in the friendly Cyprus-Sweden (0-2).
With the Swedish national team he participated in the European Championship 2012.
Trainer
On October 2, 2020 he was appointed assistant coach of the Tvåkers IF, a third series team led by a couple of days by the new head coach Mattias Lindström, another late career player who was militating in Kungsbacka City just like Hysén.
