Toni (football, 1946)

António José da Conceição Oliveira, better known as Toni, is a Portuguese footballer who was born in Mogofores (Anadia). He was in the central position, now converted into a coach.

Toni began his football career as an amateur in Anadia's little club. At the age of 16, he already had his place but did not fight higher than the regional championship with his club, for all these years at the club.

However, after his early career in Anadia, at the age of nineteen he left for the first division in a great Portuguese club. He signed at the Académica de Coimbra but did not fight more than a meeting within the season. Toni continues his career at the club, playing the following season no more than a single match, but still manages to reach second place in the championship as well as a finalist position in the Portuguese cup. He finally started playing only during his third season at the club, where he played with seventeen championship games.

He played no longer at the Academy and flew away after a very nice season with his previous club, he went to the Benfica Lisbon with an amount of escudos. His first season at Benfica, he played a lot with twenty-three matches for his first season, and managed to win the title of champion of Portugal. Since then, he has adapted to Benfica, and himself becomes an icon his second season he does not score but re-registers twenty-six matches, he is very quickly an indisputable holder and by the same year discovers the flavor of being selected as a team from Portugal for the first time. His third season was 1970-71, he played a little less but still remained a regular player in the lisboete club. Toni made many seasons, being a regular and regular player each year alongside great players like Humberto Coelho, or Eusebio, he was elected Portuguese footballer of the year 1972 only after four years at the club. Since then, he has been sacred to many seasons Portugal's champion, without luck having shined in European competitions.

Toni set out to achieve the American dream for a small season in Las Vegas Quicksilvers, flying alongside Eusebio, Humberto Coelho and Diamantino Costa all players from Benfica before joining the United States. The season is not really a success but for the only season of the club in NASL, he will still make sixteen championship meetings with the Quicksilvers team.

After the Quicksilvers, he returned to the club at Benfica Lisbon to play in the 1977-78 season, regaining his place as a holder and playing all championship games with two goals. He remained in the following two seasons, before taking an end to his career as a player during the 1980-81 season, where he played only one championship match, he finished his career in Benfica with close to 10 years of experience
