"Tools that are white"
- CONTENT -
White synagoguedware is a family of ceramic vessels originating in Cyprus, and are characterized by dense floats over the vessel made before Clalia. The preparation of the tools was made in hand (except in exceptional cases).
The family’s distribution is between 1200-1600 BC, during the Late Bronze Age, which was a period of international trade, and all serve as a guide to this period for archaeological sites in Israel. Finding it on a archaeological site indicates the belonging of the layer in which tools from this family were found for this period.
The family includes: kits, panes and bottles. The most commonly used item is a humiliated bucket with a keyboard base and a device language in hand. The lower part of the handle is made by inserting the hand into the cross through the venge in the body of the vessel. The family vessels were made of clear sick materials and whitewashed vehicles. In many cases, the white cladding did not survive. The length of the vessel ranges from 16-13 cm.
The family vessels were created in Cyprus in Enkomi – a bronze-era city that was perhaps the capital city of Elshia (ear Cypriot). The site is located near Famagusta in the east of the island. These tools have been found on many sites in the Mediterranean countries, including in the Land of Israel, including: Tel Abu Hem, Tal, and more.
The family vessels were formed in Cyprus during the Late Cypriot I equivalent to the Late Bronze Age A and the Late Cypriot II period equivalent to the Late Bronze Age. The land of Israel came the instruments during the Late Bronze Age.
