Total War: Rome II
--- CONTENT ---
is a strategy video game developed by Creative Assembly and edited by Sega, for Windows. It is the eighth episode of the series , and is the sequel to , released in 2004.
Scenario
As for his elder Rome: Total War, the game takes place during Roman antiquity, from the creation of the Roman Republic to the foundation of the Empire. The wish of the developers is to expose several visions of antiquity, from the Celts, Greeks, Phoenicians...
Game system
The game has a more extensive country map than in Rome: Total War: outside the extension areas of the Roman Empire and its surroundings, new territories to the east are available. Thus, the map extends from Brittany to Bactrie, passing through the mediterranean basin, Germany, Arabia and Persia.
A new graphic system allows soldiers to be tracked individually on the battlefield.
As with Total War: Shogun 2, the player must carefully consider the decisions to be made. The Creative Assembly has deepened this system: when the player makes a decision during the campaign, he will have to make others that can only be the logical consequence of the previous decisions.
Unlike the previous Total War series, which only assigned character traits to generals and agents, legions this time also have their own character traits. Some elements of legions' appearance can also be customized by the player.
The political system has been completely overhauled and improved. Each faction has at least two political entities fighting power. The player chooses to be part of one of them. The political status of the various entities is based on a new system of resources, which in turn is based on the actions and actions of generals and individuals belonging to a certain political entity. If the player becomes weak he may find himself powerless to influence the affairs of his country. Conversely, if he becomes too powerful, his rivals can unite against him.
In some cases, a player may attempt to take all the power thus becoming the emperor or king. However, this will require a civil war.
Country map
There are 173 regions grouped into 57 provinces. These provinces are regional groupings (up to 4 regions) and each region in a province can be conquered separately. However, the control of a whole province allows the player to pass provincial decrees that offer bonuses such as increased happiness or military production. If the happiness of the population descends too low in a province, the most unfortunate region will revolt and not the entire province.
In this opus, villages and resource buildings have disappeared from the country map and are grouped into a regional capital. For
