The Toulouse A University Institute of Technology (IUT 'A' Paul Sabatier) is a university institute of technology (IUT) at Toulouse-III-Paul Sabatier University.

Background
University institutes of technology were established in 1966 under the first tranche of the Fouchet Plan. That year, the Toulouse 'A' University Institute of Technology was opened in Toulouse-Rangueil with the departments of civil engineering and mechanical and production engineering (GMP). But in anticipation of this opening, a first promotion of DUT GMP began its studies in 1965 at the Aeronautical Technical High School in Toulouse, the Déodat-de-Séverac High School and the INSA Toulouse. In 1967, these first 40 students graduated. In addition, three other departments of electrical engineering and industrial information technology (GE2I), information technology and communication information were created that year, followed in 1968 by the departments of chemical engineering and enterprise and administration management (GEA). In 1969, he joined Toulouse-III-Paul Sabatier University. An antenna is set up in Rodez with the administration department of public authorities and enterprises. The following year, an antenna was created in Tarbes with a GEA department. In Toulouse-Rangueil, two other departments are established: physical measurements (MP) and marketing techniques (TC). In 1974, a second IUT was created in Toulouse at Toulouse II-Le Mirail University under the name of IUT Toulouse 'B'. He moved to his premises in Blagnac and Figeac in 1995 and was divided into two separate institutes in 2001: IUT de Blagnac and IUT de Figeac.

In 1980, a department of GEA was opened in Rodez, followed in 1985 by an IT department. In 1986, another GEA department was created in Toulouse-Ponsan. Then in 1987, a department of GMP was established in Tarbes. That same year, Rodez's antenna became an independent institute: Rodez University Institute of Technology.

In 1991, an antenna of the Toulouse IUT A was created in Auch, with a department of biological engineering. The following year, a chemistry department was created in Castres, while a TC department opened in Tarbes. A year later, the Tarbese antenna of this IUT became an administratively independent unit: the Tarbes University Institute of Technology. That same year, Auch's antenna opened its GEA department. In 1997, a communications services and networks department was created in Castres (renamed in 2013 in multimedia and Internet trades). In 2000, the first professional licences opened for IUT. Two years later, the Department of Packaging and Packaging Engineering (GCE) was created in Castres. In 2006, the Auch branch opened a health, safety and environment department (HSE), and in 2010 Castres
