Transgender persons (adapted from), also known as transgender, or transsexualism, or in short form "trans," have a gender identity that differs from that typically associated with natural biological sex. A transgender person is a person who has consistent behavioural characters with gender incongruence (dysphoria).

There are three types of gender identities: cysgen, transgen and non-binary, identities observed in humans as well as animals. It is estimated that 0.2-3.5% of the world's population is identified as transgenic or non-binary. Sex, sexual orientation or gender are distinct notions.

Gender incongruence (the genre felt is not the same as anatomical sex at birth) is not the same as gender dysphoria (fear, anxiety, hatred of its own gender or / or sex).
