* **Roman Empire**: The year 333 was marked by significant events in Roman politics. On December 25, Emperor Constantine the Great elevated his youngest son Constans to the rank of Caesar at Constantinople.
* Flavius Dalmatius, the half-brother of Emperor Constantine, received the title of caesar like his brothers on December 25.
* In Cyprus, Calocaerus rose against the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great and proclaimed himself emperor. Flavius Dalmatius was sent to Cyprus to suppress the rebellion.

### Conversion to Christianity

* **July 26**: Ezana, a king from Axum (modern-day Ethiopia), was converted to Christianity by a Coptic missionary named Frumence d'Aksoum (traditional date). Between 341 and 346, Frumence was consecrated Abuna, that is, bishop of Ethiopia by Athanase the Patriarch of Alexandria.
