The Holy Monastery of Trooditissa, or simply Trooditissa, is an Orthodox male monastery in Cyprus belonging to the Orthodox Church of Cyprus. It holds a prominent position among the Cypriot monasteries due to its age and location.Location
The monastery is situated on the southern slope of the Troodos Mountains, at an altitude of approximately 1300-1400 meters above sea level. It is located near the village of Foini (Troodos) in Limassol Province, within a short walking distance from Platres.History
### Establishment
The monastery was founded in ancient times as a small cave where the icon of Our Lady Trooditissa was miraculously found by a shepherd. Over time, with contributions from various devout individuals, the current monastery was built.
### Early History
The temple was burned by the Turks in 1585 and rebuilt by Abbot Parthene. It was reburned in 1842 due to a fire set by forgotten lit candles.
