**Early Life**

Tula Paulina "Tulisa" Contostavlos was born on 13 July 1988 in London, England. Her mother, Anne Byrne, is Irish, and her father, Steve Contostavlos, a former member of the rock band Mungo Jerry, is of Cypriot descent (her paternal grandfather was a UN diplomat). When Tulisa was five years old, her mother, who suffered from bipolar affective and schizoaffective disorders, was excommunicated. Her father left the family when she was 14 years old.

**Career**

Tulisa rose to fame as a member of the hip-hop group N-Dubz, along with her cousin Dappy and friend Fazer. The group released three albums between 2000 and 2011. In addition to her music career, Tulisa has also worked as an actress and television personality.

**The X Factor**

Tulisa is best known for being a judge on the British talent show The X Factor, where she won with her ward group Little Mix in one of the seasons.

**Solo Music Career**

On November 26, 2012, Tulisa released her debut solo album, **The Female Boss**, which reached only 35th place on the UK Albums Chart with low sales.

**Personal Life**

Tulisa has spoken publicly about being affected by violence, depression, and drug addiction as a teenager.
