Turkey applied to the European Economic Community (AET) partnership.

The full membership conditions for Turkey have been proposed to sign a partnership agreement that will be valid until the time of arrival and signed the Partnership Treaty in Ankara on September 12, 1963. Turkey requested about 8 billion dollars for the same period, freeze of obligations during the Fourth Five-Year Plan.

Turkey did not fulfill its obligations during the transition period, and customs discounts were stopped between 1978-1988. The relations with the military shock of the 1980 were interrupted.

The AT Commission expressed that Turkey’s full membership application will not take a new member without being completed in 1989. Therefore, the date has not been determined for membership negotiation but the execution of relations under the Affiliate Agreement was maintained.

The procedure for the realization of the Customs Union between Turkey and the EU and the Union of Customs shall be applied in the Partnership Council, which determines the principles and durations, and the European Parliament (AP).
