Overview
Türkmeneli Televizyonu, commonly referred to as Türkmeneli TV, is a television station based in Iraq that serves the interests of the Iraqi Turkmen community. The channel broadcasts in both Turkish and Arabic languages.
Availability and Programming
Türkmeneli TV is available on two satellites: Turksat and Nilesat. The channel produces a variety of programs, including news, documentaries about the history of Iraqi Turkmens (particularly Ottoman history), language, politics, and music. It also airs sequences and music programs from the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) as part of its broadcasting agreement with TRT in 2008.
History
Türkmeneli TV began its experimental broadcast in April 2004 and started its regular broadcast in July 2004 from its headquarters in Kirkuk. By 2010, the station had opened a new studio in Baghdad, expanding its reach to the capital city.
Partnerships and Agreements
In addition to its agreement with TRT, Türkmeneli TV has also signed partnerships with other Turkish channels, including TGRT and ATV, as well as the Broadcasting Organization of Northern Cyprus (Bayrak Radyo Televizyon Kurumu, BRT), for exchanging documentary films. These collaborations enable the channel to offer a diverse range of content to its audience.
