Tyler John Simpson (born 28). August 1985 in Sydney † May 26, 2011 was an Australian football player. His twin brother Jordan Simpson is also a professional footballer.
Career
Simpson played 2003/04 for Northern Spirit FC in the youth league of the National Soccer League and subsequently had a guest appearance in Armenia at Dinamo-Zenit Yerevan. After returning to Australia, he played with the Northern Tigers in the New South Wales Winter Super League, the second highest league in the state of New South Wales and in the 2004/05 season with the St. George Saints in the NSW Premier League. In 2005, he, like his brother Jordan, signed a professional contract with the A League club Queensland Roar and made four appearances in the highest league in Australia. In February 2006 he was invited to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra for a sighting course of the Olympic selection and participated in the “Spring Cup” in Vietnam two months later. Both of them did not get a contract with Roar beyond the 2005/06 season.
In August 2006, Simpson signed a one-month short-term contract with Perth Glory as a replacement for the injured Bobby Despotovski and came to a league outing. Subsequently, he played for some time at Sydney Olympic, before he was again signed by Perth as a replacement for the injured David Tarka, his brother was also in the 2007/08 season in Perth under contract. After both did not get a contract extension beyond the end of the season, they probably dared to jump to Europe in early 2008, but at an unnamed Cypriot club the signed contracts were declared invalid upon their arrival and the brothers were forced with threats to return to Australia. The Australian Players’ Union won compensation payments for the two players at the FIFA Dispute Settlement Chamber. Since March 2008 he played at the Blacktown City Demons (since 2009 Blacktown City) in the New South Wales Premier League, 2010 he was one of the top performers in winning the League Championship.
Simpson committed suicide in May 2011. The Australian Olympic selection (U-23) wore in the friendly match on the 1st. June 2011 against Japan in his honor Trauerflor.
