U-17 European Football Championship 2013

The final round of the 31st U-17 European Football Championship took place from 5 to 17. May 2013 in Slovakia. After the U-21 European Football Championship 2000, it is the second European Junior Football Championship that took place in Slovakia. She also served as a qualification for the 2013 U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The best six teams qualified for the World Cup.

Qualification
The first qualifying round, which included all UEFA associations except host Slovakia, was drawn on 29 November 2011. It began on 24 September 2012 and was completed on 4 November 2012.

In the first qualifying round, which took place in mini tournaments in one country each, Germany, Switzerland and Austria prevailed and reached the elite round. Germany won all his three games: 5-0 against San Marino, 10-1 against Andorra and 8-1 against host Finland. The Swiss also won their group after a 3-0 against the Faroe Islands, a 5-1 against Cyprus and a 1:1 draw against host Austria, which in turn defeated the Faroe Islands with 6-0 and played against Cyprus 1:1 and thus landed in second place. Liechtenstein failed against Hungary and Italy.

In the elite round, Austria and Switzerland prevailed as hosts in their groups. Austria won two games (1-0 against Serbia and 2-1 against Georgia) after losing 0-1 to Ireland in the beginning. The Swiss managed two wins (2-1 against Israel and 1-0 against the Czech Republic) and a draw (0-0 against Poland), which was enough for the group victory. Germany was also the group host, but two convincing wins (5-2 against Bulgaria and 6-0 against Estonia) were not enough for the first place, which was won by the Ukrainian players in a direct duel (0-1).

Mode mode
The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four teams each. Within the groups, each team once played against each other. The group winners and group runners reached the semi-finals. The winners reached the final. Third place was not played. The regular playing time was twice 40 minutes. From the semi-final decided in the case of a draw after the regular season immediately a penalty shooting.

Venue locations
The finals were played in four cities: Žilina (Štadión pod Dubňom), as well as in Dubnica nad Váhom (Mestský štadión), Nitra (Štadión pod Zoborom) and Zlaté Moravce (Štadión Zlaté Moravce).

Preliminary
The preliminary round was held in two groups with four teams each. The two group winners and runner-up qualified for the semi-finals. In the case of point equality, the direct comparison first decided and then the goal difference over the ranking.
