U-17 European Football Championship 2019

The final round of the 37th U-17 European Football Championship took place from the 3rd to the 19th. May 2019 will be held in Ireland at the UEFA Executive Committee meeting on 9 May 2019. December 2016 and was already the host of the U-16 European Football Championship 1994. The defending champion Netherlands was able to prevail against Italy in the final as in the previous year and thus celebrated his fourth title overall. In addition to the two finalists, the semi-finalists Spain and France as well as Hungary qualified as the winner of the match for fifth place for the U-17 World Cup 2019.

Qualification

First round
The first qualifying round, in which all applicants except hosts Ireland and Germany and England participated, was drawn on 6 December 2017. Germany and England received as best placed teams in the coefficient ranking in advance a free ticket for the elite round. The remaining 52 teams played in 13 groups with four teams each. The group first and second as well as the four best group third qualified for the elite round. Qualification started on September 27, 2018. The games of each group were played as a mini-tournament in a host country from the respective group.

Austria met hosts Slovenia, Bulgaria and Malta in Group 3. With two wins and a draw against Slovenia, they qualified as group first for the elite round. Switzerland also met Kosovo and Scotland in Group 5 in Cyprus. With a win, a draw and a defeat each, the Confederates qualified as the third best group third for the elite round. Liechtenstein had to compete in Group 1 in Sweden and lost to both the hosts and the other two opponents Netherlands and Montenegro.

The best scorer of the qualification was the Russian Kiril Shchetinin with eight goals.

Elite round
In the elite round, the remaining teams were drawn into eight groups with four teams each. The draw of the groups took place on December 6, 2018 in Nyon. Each group played a mini-tournament in one country. The eight group winners and the seven best second-placed teams qualified for the final round. The elite round took place from 20 March to 1 April 2019. Group 5 matches should take place in Spain. However, since Spain does not recognise the independence of Kosovo, therefore Kosovan flags and symbols may not be shown in Spain, and the other two group opponents do not recognise the independence of Kosovo, the tournament was held at the UEFA location in Nyon.

The draw resulted in the following groups (order after final placement, teams with a green back were eligible for the final round):

The German selection had home rights in Group 4 and only drew in the first two games against Belarus and Iceland. By 1-0 in the last group match against Slovenia
