The U-BT Cluj-Napoca is a Romanian basketball team based in the city of Cluj-Napoca, which competes in the Națională League, the highest competition in his country and the Basketball Champions League, the third European competition. Displays their games in the Sala Polivalentă, with capacity for 10,000 spectators and in the Sala Sporturilor Horia Demian, with capacity for 2,525 spectators.

The club was part of the sports association CS Universitatea Cluj- Napoca, becoming independent in 1966, although it is still in its name U (abbreviation of Universitatea).

History
The sports association CS Universitatea Cluj- Napoca was founded in 1919, while the basketball team was founded in 1947,
playing for the first time in the 1st Romanian Basketball Division in 1966, when he became independent of the sports association.

Since then, the club has remained in the 1st Romanian Basketball Division, with its best results in the 1990s, where they won 3 leagues (1992, 1993 and 1996) and 1 Cup (1995), apart from being two league subchampions (1991 and 1994).

In 2007, the club reached the final quarter of the FIBA EuroCup Challenge (then the 4th European division), being defeated by the Apollon Limassol BC Cypriot, in what has been its best result at European level. After 16 years of drought in domestic competitions, in 2011, league champions were proclaimed after defeating the CSU Killer Ploiești in the final, thus winning its 4th league title.

In 2016, five years after their last title, they proclaimed their second-by-second cup champions in their history and first-time supercup champions, both defeating CSM Oradea. In 2017 they made the first double of their history, winning their 5th league (they defeated in the final by 3-0 the Steaua CSM Eximbank and their 3rd cup (they defeated by 79-78 the BC Mureş).

The most important player in the club's history is Gheorghe Mureşan, who played on the team in the 1992-1992 season and is considered the highest player in the history of the NBA with 2.31 m, exceeding in millimeters to Manute Bol.
