The UEFA Champions League 2024/25 will be the 70th season of the main European football club tournament and the 33rd season since the renaming of the European Champions Cup to the UEFA Champions League. This will be the first UEFA Champions League draw to be held in a new format under the Swiss system.

Allocation of Teams

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw will feature 83 teams from 53 UEFA football associations (excluding Liechtenstein, as the home championship is not held there, and Russia, which is currently suspended from UEFA tournaments). The number of participants from each country is determined according to the UEFA coefficient table:

* From associations ranked 1-5, four teams will participate.

Expansion

The UEFA Champions League 2024/25 will feature an increased number of teams, with 36 teams participating in the competition. This represents a change from the previous season's format, which featured 32 teams.

Dates and Schedule

The following dates are planned for the draws and rounds:

* The final will be held on May 31, 2025.
* The qualification process will be determined by the UEFA access list, with the order of associations based on their association coefficients in the UEFA five-year classification 2022/23.

Qualification

The classification into the individual qualifying rounds is determined by the UEFA access list. If the defending champions of the previous year who qualified for the Champions League have already qualified through another means, they will be replaced by the next team in the ranking.
