UEFA Cup 1972-1973
--- CONTENT--
The 1972-1973 UEFA Cup was the 2nd edition of the competition. He was won by defeating the double final.
Formula
For the first time the seats in the competition were distributed by the desire of UEFA, which in 1971 had assigned them to the national championships according to a principle of rebalance with respect to the Cup of Fairs: the European confederation decided that normally each nation would have two seats, except the smallest countries that would have received only one, so as to ensure the overrepresentation of the major championships. For different political reasons, however, they did not participate in this edition or Albanian representatives (for the Austrian decreed by the ultra-communist regime) or Nordirlandesi (for the serious interreligious disorders): a place for Yugoslavia and France was recovered.
