This article contains information about the group stage of the UEFA Europa League 2012/13.

48 clubs participate in the group stage: 38 teams that have passed qualification and 10 losers of the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League (five from the championship and five from non-champion qualification). The clubs are divided into 12 groups of 4 teams each. The teams that took the first two places in the group are in the playoffs.

The draw

The group stage draw will take place at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco on 31 August 2012 at 13:00 CET (UTC+2).

The teams were seeded into four baskets based on their position in the 2012 UEFA coefficients ranking. The title holder, Atletico Madrid, is automatically seeded in the 1st basket.

Geography of the group stage
In the group stage of the UEFA Europa League 2012/13, the national leagues of the following countries are represented:
Germany, Italy - 4 teams each
England, Spain, Portugal, France – 3 each
Belgium, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden – 2 each,
Austria, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Cyprus, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey — 1 each.

Group A

Anzhi played home games at Lokomotiv Stadium, in Moscow instead of his home stadium, Dynamo in Makhachkala. This was due to security issues related to the city of Makhachkala and the Republic of Dagestan.
