UEFA Women's Champions League 2009-2010
The UEFA Women's Champions League 2009-2010 was the ninth edition of the European women's club football championship, and the first under its new designation. It replaced the previous UEFA Women's Cup.
Qualification
In qualifying, 28 teams competed for seven places in the round of the last 32. The champions of the 20 weaker associations and the vice-champions of the eight strongest associations took part in the qualification. This format was a change from previous years, where only the top-ranked teams qualified directly.
Competition Format
A total of 53 teams from 44 countries participated in the competition. The tournament began with the first matches of the qualifying round on July 30, 2009, and ended with the final on May 20, 2010, at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in Getafe, Spain.
Final
The final match was contested between FFC Turbine Potsdam (Germany) and Olympique Lyon (France). The game went to a penalty shootout, which FFC Turbine Potsdam won 7-6. This marked the first victory for the German team under its new designation, and their second overall title.
Notes

The competition format was also modified to include more teams from weaker associations, with the champions of these teams competing against the vice-champions of the strongest associations in qualifying.
