The UEFA Women's Champions League 2011-12 was the 11th edition of the European championship competition for women's football clubs and the third under this designation. A total of 54 teams from 46 countries participated in the tournament.
Participants
The participants were determined by the national champions and vice-champions from the eight strongest national associations, as per the UEFA five-year classification. The 14 national champions of the strongest national associations, along with the eight vice-champions, received a bye to the sixteenth final round.
Competition Format
The competition began with the qualifying round on August 11, 2011, and concluded with the final on May 17, 2012, at the Olympiastadion in Munich. The tournament was won for the second consecutive time by Olympique Lyon, who defeated 1st FFC Frankfurt 2-0 in front of a record crowd of 50,212 spectators.
