Overview
The UEFA Women’s Champions League 2015/16 was the fifteenth edition of the European championship competition for women's football clubs and the seventh under this designation. The competition began with the first matches of the qualifying round on August 11, 2015, and ended with the final on May 26, 2016, held at Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in Reggio nell’Emilia.
Participants
The UEFA Women’s Champions League 2015/16 was attended by 46 national champions as well as the vice-champions of the eight strongest national associations and the defending champions FFC Frankfurt. The top eight UEFA-rated associations at the end of the 2013-2014 season had their champion and vice-champion clubs qualified directly for the final stages, while the following seven best UEFA associations had only their champion clubs qualified directly.
Qualification Scheme
The qualification scheme was based on the UEFA five-year classification. The top eight UEFA-rated associations at the end of the 2013-2014 season had their champion and vice-champion clubs qualified directly for the final stages, while the following seven best UEFA associations had only their champion clubs qualified directly.
Final Stages
The competition began with the first matches of the qualifying round on August 11, 2015. The defending champions FFC Frankfurt were eliminated in the semi-finals against VfL Wolfsburg.
Final
The final was held at Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore in Reggio nell’Emilia on May 26, 2016.
