The US Open 2010 were a tennis tournament played on the concrete. It was the 130th edition of the US Open and the fourth and final test of the Great Slam of 2010. The tournament took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Juan Martín del Potro and Kim Clijsters were the outgoing champions. Del Potro was injured for most of the season, and did not participate in defending his title. Clijsters, on the other hand, confirmed his title by defeating Vera Zvonarëva in the final, and winning the tournament for the third time. Rafael Nadal won the only Slam tournament he missed, defeating Novak Đoković in the final, and reaching 9 major titles.

Summary
Rafael Nadal won the single male tournament by beating the Russian Tejmuraz Gabašvili 7–6(4), 7–6(4), 6-3. In the second round he had the best on Uzbek Denis Istomin in 3 sets with a score of 6–2, 7–6(5), 7–5. In the next round he had to play 3 sets to beat French Gilles Simon beat 6–4, 6–4, 6–2. In the eighth finals, he defeated Spanish Feliciano López in 3 sets for 6–3, 6–4, 6–4. In the quarters he had the best on the compatriot Fernando Verdasco for 7–5, 6–3, 6–4. In the semi-finals he beat the Russian Michail Južnyj once again in 3 sets with a score of 6–2, 6–3, 6–4. In the final he defeated Novak Đoković in 4 sets with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Kim Clijsters reconfirmed the 2009 title by winning the single women's tournament. In the 1st round he beat Hungarian Gréta Arn with a score of 6-0, 7-5. In the 2nd round he defeated the Australian Sally Peers for 6-2, 6-1. In the next round he had the best on the Czech Petra Kvitová with a score of 6–3, 6–0. In the eighth finals he beat Ana Ivanović 6–2, 6–1. In the quarters Samantha Stosur yielded 6–4, 5–7, 6–3. In the semifinals he beat Venus Williams for 4–6, 7–6(2), 6–4 and in the final the Russian Vera Zvonarëva 6–2, 6–1.

Tournament programme
The tournament took place in 15 days divided in two weeks. Due to the rain, the tournament lasted until Monday, September 13.

Qualifications and drawings
Qualifications for accessing the tournament's main boards took place between 24 and 28 August 2010. The winners of the third round were qualified.
