The US Open 2011 were a tennis tournament that took place on DecoTurf outdoor concrete fields. It was the 131st edition of the US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam test in the 2011 ATP World Tour and the 2011 WTA Tour. The tournament took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. Outgoing male and female singles were Rafael Nadal and Kim Clijsters. The latter could not defend the title for an injury to the muscles of the abdomen. In the singular male Novak Đoković won his fourth title of the Great Slam of his career, while in the female singular Samantha Stosur won his first Major.

Summary
Novak Đoković won the single men's tournament by beating the Irish Conor Niland who retired on the score of 6-0, 5-1. In the second round he had the best on the Argentine Carlos Berlocq in three sets with the score of 6–0, 6–0, 6–2. In the next round he had to play three sets to beat Russian Nikolaj Davydenko beat 6–3, 6–4, 6–2. In the eighth finals he defeated the Ukrainian Aleksandr Dolhopolov in three sets for 7–6(14), 6-4, 6-2. In the quarters he had the best on the compatriot Janko Tipsarević who retired on the score of 7–6(2), 6(3)–7, 6-0, 3-0. In the semi-finals he beat Swiss Roger Federer in five sets with a score of 6(7)–7, 4–6, 6–3, 6–2, 7–5, saving two match points. In the final he defeated Rafael Nadal in four sets with a score of 6–2, 6–4, 6(3)–7, 6–1.

Samantha Stosur won the women's singles tournament. In the first round he beat the Swedish Sofia Arvidsson with the score of 6-2, 6-3. In the second round he defeated Coco Vandeweghe for 6-2, 6-1. In the next round he had the best on the Russian Nadia Petrova with a score of 7–6(5), 6(5)–7, 7–5. In the eighty finals he beat Marija Kirilenko for 6-2, 6(15)–7, 6-3. In the quarters Vera Zvonarëva yielded 6-3, 6-3. In the semifinals he beat Angelique Kerber for 6–3, 2–6, 6–2 and in the final the American Serena Williams 6-2, 6-3.

Tournament programme
The tournament takes place in fifteen days divided in two weeks. Due to the rain, the tournament lasted until Monday, September 12.

The qualifiers awarded sixteen seats for each of the two single tournaments and played between 23 and 27 August 2011.
