**History**
Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Cyprus were established in 1992. Cyprus recognized the independence of Ukraine on December 27, 1991.
**Political Relations**
In 2011, Cyprus opened its embassy in Kiev, replacing its previous representation through its embassy in Berlin, Germany. Both countries have maintained diplomatic relations since their establishment in 1992.
**Economic Relations**
Cooperation between Ukraine and Cyprus is based on the Agreement between the Ukrainian Government and the Republic of Cyprus signed on January 12, 2012. The agreement aims to promote economic, scientific, technical, and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
In 2020, the total trade cycle between Ukraine and Cyprus totaled $674.6 million, a decrease of 163% compared to the same period in 2019. Ukrainian exports to Cyprus amounted to $418.9 million, an increase of 23.2%, while imports fell by 40.3% and totaled $255.8 million.
**Twin Cities**
Odessa is twinned with Larnaca since 1968.
