Odysseas Ioannidis was a Greek Cypriot doctor and politician. He was Mayor of Nicosia and Minister for Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Biographical data
Odysseas Ioannidis was born in Nicosia in 1927. He studied at Pancyprian High School. He studied medicine at the University of Athens. In 1956 he began working as a surgeon in Nicosia.
He served as chairman of the Nicosia School Administration, chairman of the Nicosia Municipal Committee and member of various public councils.
He is married to Nina, the genus Anastasios Stefanidis, and has two children.
Path Policy
In 1964 he was appointed Mayor of Nicosia, a position in which he remained until 1970.
In 1969 he founded the Progressive Party which he also served as president. In the 1970 parliamentary election he elected 7 out of 35 seats in parliament.
On 16 June 1972 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources to the Government of Archbishop Makarios III 1968, a position in which he also remained in the Government of Archbishop Makarios III 1973 to 15 July 1974, the day of the coup.
His name was included in the cabinet list announced by Nikos Samson about the position of Minister of Health.
