Biographical data
Umit Suleiman Onan was born in Nicosia in 1928. He spoke, beyond Turkish, Greek and English. He studied law and worked as a lawyer.

Path Policy
He was elected MP in the 1960 parliamentary elections in the Lefkosia Electoral District with the National Turkish Association of Cyprus for the First Parliamentary Period. He remained in the position of Member until December 1963 when Turkish Cypriots left the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.
