History
It seems that the origin of the fig tree is the Mediterranean and its fruits have been greatly appreciated by the different cultures that have settled on the shores of this sea over the years. But other sources indicate that the fig comes from the countries of the Middle East, ranging from the Mediterranean area to western Asia. However, ancient civilizations of the Eastern Mediterranean used the fig long before it reached Europe.
It was probably started in southern Arabia from where it spread to other countries. Possibly the Phoenicians spread the cultivation of the fig tree in Cyprus, Sicily, Malta, Corsica, Balearic Islands, Iberian peninsula, France. The Greeks brought the fruit to Palestine and Asia Minor.
The variety 'Tio Antonio A' is native to the southeast of Spain, and is grown in the province of Alicante. This variety has been selected by the "Elche Agrarian Experimental Station" among many other varieties of black figs of the Valencia Community for its intensive commercial cultivation, as it is vigorous and well adapted in intensive crops, apart from its good taste qualities and productivity.

They have an elastic epidermis, with medium firmness, good scratching aptitude, with black background color with numerous very small white lentils and on color small brown green spots. With a ° Brix (5-sample average) of a sweet taste of 16.3, with mesocarpian of a uniform thickness but a little thicker in the area of the neck with pink color, and the color of the light red pulp, with internal cavity of a medium type, with few aquenes of a medium type. It has some thick longitudinal crack. Of a good quality in its organoleptic assessment, they are of a maturation beginning from May 29. They are resistant to handling and transport.
