Under the sky of Alice is a French film directed by Chloé Mazlo, whose first feature film. The film was selected in several festivals, especially the edition of the Week of Criticism at the Cannes Film Festival in 2020.
He was awarded the "Best First French Film" award for the year 2021 by the French Film Criticism Union. He was also named to the 27th edition of the Enlightenment of the International Press in the Best Premier Film category in 2021.
Synopsis
In the 1950s Alice left Switzerland for Lebanon. She will fall madly in love with Joseph. The latter is an astrophysicist dreaming of sending the first Lebanese into space. Alice will soon find her place in Joseph's family. However, after a few years of dolce vita, this paradise is challenged by war.

Around the film
Writing
Under Alice's sky is freely inspired by the family story of director Chloé Mazlo. Alice's character is thus based on her grandmother, a Swiss officer in Beirut as a nurse in the 1950s. The script was written with Yacine Badday (coswriter of two previous films of the director) and partly developed in different writing residences (Groupe Ouest, Moulin d'Andé). The film was produced by Frédéric Niedermayer of Moby Dick Films.
