United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC)

Overview

The United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) is a UN body established in 2004 to provide information and disseminate the UN message. Located in Brussels, Belgium, UNRIC serves as the UN Central Observatory in Western Europe.

Structure and Affiliation

UNRIC is part of the UN Secretariat and belongs to the UN General Department for Global Communications. In Germany, there is a UNRIC liaison office in Bonn.

Mandate and Activities

The main tasks of UNRIC are to inform about the work of the United Nations, raise people's awareness of UN relevant issues, and promote public dialogue. To achieve this, UNRIC publishes information materials such as press releases, posters, newsletters, brochures, and reports. The centre also provides access to UN documents and publications in English, French, Spanish, and other Western European languages.
