Background

United Nations Security Council Resolution 360 was adopted on August 16, 1974.

Content

The resolution recalled previous resolutions and noted that all countries had declared respect for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus. It officially condemned Turkey's unilateral military action and urged parties to comply without delay with its previous resolutions, particularly Resolution 353.

Adoption

The resolution was adopted by 11 votes, with three members abstaining: the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, Iraq, and the Soviet Union.

Request for Report

The Council requested the Secretary-General to submit a report as necessary to adopt further measures aimed at restoring peaceful conditions.
