Ukrainian Business Resource (UBR)

Overview

Ukrainian Business Resource (UBR) is a former Ukrainian business television channel. Established in 2008 as an internet portal, it began satellite broadcasting on March 2, 2009.

History

The channel started test broadcasting on February 5, 2009, with the Cyrillic logo of UBR. Initially, it broadcasted 12 hours a day (from 12:00 to 0:00 local time). On June 24, 2009, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting allowed the channel to increase its broadcast time to 18 hours a day (from 6:30 to 0:30 local time) and change the logo from Ukrainian to English. The logo was modified again on March 15, 2010, and March 29, 2011.

Operations

The channel's programming consisted mainly of its own productions, with approximately 95% of broadcasts being original content. UBR provided economic news in Ukraine and globally, featuring interviews with prominent business figures and market trend analysis. The channel also offered real-time updates on currency prices from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), oil prices, gold prices, and other relevant information.

Merger and Closure

In 2013, UBR merged with the Doing Ukraine media lobby. However, this move did not save the channel from financial difficulties. In 2014, UBR increased its online presence by broadcasting live events and updating news blocks in real-time every 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, due to the economic situation in Ukraine, the owners of UBR made the decision to cease operations on January 1, 2013 (although this date is disputed). The channel officially stopped broadcasting on December 28, 2016.
