Ute Krause (* 1960 in Berlin) is a German writer, screenwriter, director and illustrator of children’s and youth books.

Live life
Ute Krause was born in West Berlin, but her parents came from places in the GDR. She spent her childhood and adolescence because of her father’s work as an aid worker in various countries and continents, such as Turkey, Nigeria, Cyprus, India and the United States. In 1968 she was in Turkey, in 1971 in India. Since 1985 she has been writing and illustrating children’s books such as The Santa Clauses, The Big Bear, Minus Three and The Muscle Animals. Some of her works have received numerous awards, including nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize, internationally translated or filmed for television.

She first studied Visual Communication at the Berlin Art Academy, and from 1989 Film and Television Play at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München (HFF Munich). In 1990 her first short film followed, further tasks in the short and documentary field followed, then commissioned work for advertising.
