--- CONTENT ---
The XI Parliamentary Period is the eleventh period of the House of Representatives of Cyprus. It began on 2 June 2016 and ended on 31 May 2021. The composition of the House of Representatives for the XI Parliamentary Period arose through the 2016 Parliamentary Elections.

Election of Speaker of Parliament
In the first session of the House of Representatives during the XI Parliamentary Period (2 June 2016), an election was held to declare the body's president. The president of the body was the elder of the MPs Adamos Adamos. After a vote in plenary, it was decided as nominations are submitted in reverse depending on the power of parties.

Members have put forward a nomination:

George Perdikis (on behalf of the Ecologists-Civil Cooperation Movement)
Dimitris Syllouris (on behalf of Solidarity)
Marinos Sizopoulos (on behalf of K.S.-EDEK)
Andros Kyprianou (on behalf of AKEL)
Averof Neophytou (on behalf of DISY)

The election of the Speaker of the House took three votes. In the first and second votes each Member could vote only one candidate. In order for a candidate to be elected in the first vote he was required to exceed 50% of the vote, i.e. to get at least 29 votes. In the first vote no candidate raised more than 50% of the vote. In order for a candidate to be elected in the second vote, he was required to raise 2/5 of the vote, namely to get 23 votes. In the second vote no candidate raised 2/5 of the vote. The third vote elected the candidate who garnered most votes. In this vote every Member could vote for each candidate and not just one. In addition to their president Averof Neophytos, the MEPs voted for Dimitris Syllouris. Members of the Ecologists-Civil Cooperation Movement, in addition to their president George Perdikis, also voted for Marino Sizopoulos. Speaker of the House of Representatives for the XI Parliamentary Period was named Dimitris Syllouris.

The following table shows the results of the votes.

On October 13, 2020, following a video release of the Al Jazeera network which, according to the network, involved Dimitris Syllouris in an attempt to grant a Cypriot passport through the Citizenship Investment Program (CIP) to convicted for crimes, he said he would abstain from his duties until the investigations were completed. On 15 October 2020 he submitted his resignation as Speaker of the House and MP.

After Dimitris Syllouris resigned from the position of Speaker of the Parliament, on 16 October 2020 parliamentary parties - with the exception of ELAM - decided as they support Adamos Adamos' nomination for the position of Speaker of the Parliament, for the remainder of the XI Parliamentary Period. On 23 October 2020 he was officially elected as chairman of the college with 53 votes in favour, 2 abstentions (ELAM Members)
