VTB Group is a Russian financial group. The main shareholder of VTB Group is the state represented by Rosimushchestvo. The parent organization is VTB Bank.

Geography of activities
The geography of VTB Group’s activities, along with the CIS countries, covers the states of Asia and Africa. In the CIS countries, the Group is represented in Belarus, VTB Banks, and operates within the framework of the European subholding headed by VTB Bank (Austria). In addition, the Group has subsidiaries and associate banks in the UK, Cyprus, Serbia, and , as well as one branch of VTB Bank in and , two branches of VTB Capital pls.

History
1990 - with the participation of the State Bank of the RSFSR and the Ministry of Finance of the RSFSR, the Foreign Trade Bank (Vneshtorgbank) was established. The Bank was created in the form of a closed joint-stock company to service Russia’s foreign economic operations and promote the country’s integration into the world economy. On October 17, 1990 it was officially registered by the Bank of Russia.

2002 - Bank shares transferred to the Ministry of Property of Russia.

2004 - VTB Bank acquires a controlling stake (85.81%) of CJSC KB Guta Bank. On its basis, a specialized retail bank VTB 24 was created. It became the owner of Armsberbank in Armenia, which was later renamed VTB Bank (Armenia).

2005 - becomes the owner of 75.5% +3 shares of OJSC Industrial and Construction Bank (PSB). VTB Bank North-West was established on the basis of PSB, then reorganized into the North-West Regional Center of VTB Bank. It acquired Eurobank in France, later renamed VTB Bank (France) SA. It acquired Moscow Narodny Bank Limited in the UK, later renamed VTB Europe Plc, then VTB Capital Plc. It acquired Ost-West Handelsbank AG in Germany, later renamed VTB Bank (Deutschland) AG. It acquired United Georgian Bank in Georgia (2005), later renamed VTB Bank (Georgia).

2006 - Vneshtorgbank and Vneshtorgbank 24 were renamed VTB and VTB 24. Establishes a subsidiary Bank VTB Africa SA in Angola. Becomes the owner of Mriya Bank in Ukraine, which was later merged with VTB Bank (the unofficial name of VTB Ukraine).

2007 - becomes the owner of Slavneftebank in Belarus, which was later renamed VTB Bank (Belarus). It is sold by the subsidiary bank Novosibirskvneshtorgbank (99.56% of shares) to the East European Financial Corporation.

2008 - creates a subsidiary bank VTB Bank (Kazakhstan).

In 2009 he became the owner of AF-Bank in Azerbaijan, which was later renamed VTB Bank (Azerbaijan).

2012 - acquired another stake in TransCreditBank (TKB) from Russian Railways, and the bank's share amounted to 99.6%.

2013 - VTB held an additional share issue (SPO). The state did not participate in the SPO and its share in the bank after the closure of the subscription fell to 60.9%.
