Vagiz Gainelgilemovich Shaykhetdinov was born on March 8, 1955, in Kopey-Kubovo village, Buzdyakov district, Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (BASSR), Russian SFSR, USSR. He is a Russian painter and the brother of artist Vakil Shaykhetdinov.

Shaykhetdinov defended his diploma in painting at the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute (BSPI) in Ufa in 1980.
