Valentina Bergamaschi (* 22). January 1997 in Varese is an Italian footballer. She is currently under contract with AC Milan and played for the Italian national team for the first time in 2016.
Career
Clubs
Valentina Bergamaschi was born in Varese and grew up in Cittiglio. From the age of nine she played together with boys in a team at FC Caravate.
In May 2011, Bergamaschi was appointed to the Lombardy U-15 team for the Torneo delle Regioni (Regional Tournament) in Chianciano Terme from 26 June to 3 July 2011. The team eventually won the tournament, with Bergamaschi scoring one of the goals in the final. Through their participation in the tournament, the talent seekers of the Italian U-17 team became aware of them and invited them to a training camp.
As a promising young player, she received offers from several clubs from the higher leagues, but she decided to sign a contract with Alto Verbano. The club played at this time in Serie D. With Bergamaschi, the club managed to advance to Serie C for the 2012/13 season.
In the summer of 2014, she moved to Rapid Lugano in the Swiss National League B. At the end of the 2014/15 season, the club managed to advance to the National League A. Before the start of the 2015/16 season, the women's team left the men's club and then competed as Lugano in 1976. Bergamaschi stayed with the club for one season and then switched to FC Neunkirch.
With FC Neunkirch she won the double of championship and football cup in the 2016/17 season. In addition, she was queen scorer in the Swiss league this season. In June 2017, she was initially without a club, before she was signed by ACF Brescia in early July, with which she could play for the first time in the Serie A.
Since July 2018, she has been under contract with the newly founded women’s football department of AC Milan, which had acquired the license from Brescia.
National team
Bergamaschi initially played for the Italian U-17 team and U-19 team. With the U-17 national team, she took third place at the U-17 European Women's Championship 2014 and the U-17 Women's World Cup 2014. She was appointed to the Italian national team for the four-nation tournament in Brazil. She made her debut there on the 7th. December 2016 in a game against Russia, where she directly scored her first international goal. For the national team she was also used at the Cyprus Cup 2018 and 2019, as well as at the Women’s World Cup 2019, the Algarve Cup 2022 and the Women’s European Football Championship 2022. At the European Championship she scored a goal in the group game against Iceland.
