Vanity Tonja Caroll Lewerissa (born 1 April 1991 in Maastricht) is a Dutch footballer who played at the Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam from 2018 to 2021. In 2015 she played for the first time in the Dutch national football team of women.
Career
Clubs
After her youth at WVV '28, Lewerissa played at VVV-Venlo from 2010 to 2011. In 2011 she moved to Belgian Champion Standard Liège, who played in the top Belgian league until 2012 and since 2012 in the new joint Belgian-Dutch women's league BeNe League. With Liège, she became champion, cup winner and Supercup winner in her first year. In the following two years, second place was taken behind the Dutch club FC Twente Enschede, making Liège Belgian champion. In the 2014/15 season, Liège was able to reverse conditions and became first in the league before Twente and thus Belgian champion again.
As champions, Liège took part in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. On 27 September 2011, Lewerissa played her first Champions League match in the sixteenth final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2011/12, but lost 0-2 at home. Although the second leg could be won with 4:3, the goal difference spoke for the Danes. The following year came the end again in the sixteenth final, this time against 1st FFC Turbine Potsdam by two defeats (1:3 and 0:5). 2013/14 was also in the sixteenth final, this time against Glasgow City LFC. At 2:2 in the first leg Lewerissa had scored 1:0. In 2014, the team had to qualify through the group stage, with Lewerissa in the three group games. Although a 10:0 against Cardiff Met. LFC, with Lewerissa scored two goals, and a 1-0 against ASA Tel-Aviv FC, but lost to the Portuguese champion Atlético Ouriense with 0:1, the Belgians were eliminated due to the direct comparison. After the 2015 championship title, Liège was able to make a new start in the 2015/16 UEFA Women’s Champions League season, but without Lewerissa, as she moved to PSV Eindhoven for the 2015/16 season.
For the 2018/19 season she switched to Ajax. With Ajax she won the Dutch Cup, where she scored in the final in the third minute of the stoppage time the 2-1 victory goal against Zwolle. After three seasons with Ajax, she returned to Liège.
National team
For the first time she wore the orange jersey on the 1st. June 2006 for the U-17 team at a friendly tournament and also participated in several friendly matches. She played her first competitive game in October 2007 in qualifying for the U-17 European Women's Championship 2008, the first European championship for this female age group.
