### Location and Geography

Vasa Koilaniou (also known as Vasa Kilaniou) is a village located in the Limassol District of Cyprus, situated approximately 4 kilometers south of Omodos. The village has an altitude of about 760 meters above sea level.

### Name and History

The name "Vasa" or "Vissa" comes from the ancient Greek word for "wooded valley". This etymology is supported by the existence of a sanctuary of Apollo in the village, which may be related to the settlement of Cyprus by the Arcadians. In fact, there was an ancient settlement called Vassai in Arcadia, Peloponnese, where the Temple of Apollo at Bassae was located.

### Demographics

According to the 2011 census, Vasa Koilaniou had a population of 163 inhabitants. The village's population has been reported as follows:

### Location and Environment

Vasa Kilaniou is situated on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, approximately 35 kilometers northwest of Limassol. The village borders Arsos to the west, Omodos to the northeast, Potamiou and Kissousa to the south, and Malia to the southwest. The village can be reached via the road F604.

The area surrounding Vasa Koilaniou is primarily agricultural land, with many vineyards in the region.
