Manuel Veiga Machado (15 September 1986, Santa Maria de Oliveira, Portugal) is a Portuguese footballer, striker of the club Lusitance. He played for a number of clubs from the lower divisions of Portugal, then played in the Andorran teams Lusitans, San Julia and Andorra, also played for the Cypriot clubs APOP Kiniras and Aya Napa.
Biography
At the age of thirteen, in 1995 he became a member of the children's team "Avesh". From 2000 to 2004 he was in the camp of Famalicana. In the 2004/05 season he was a player of the Lisbon “Sporting”, with whom he became the winner of the youth championship of Portugal under 18 years.
In 2005, he began his career in the team “Merelineche”, which played in the third strongest division of Portugal. Later he played for other teams from the lower divisions of Portugal - Torcatensche, Courenche and Cabeirensche.
In 2008, he became a player of the Andorran club Lusitance, which was founded by immigrants from Portugal. In the summer of 2008 he moved to another Andorran team "San Julia", with which he won the championship of the principality. In the summer of 2009, the team participated in the Champions League for the first time. In the first round of “San Julia” got San Marina “Tre Fiori” and the Andorrans were able to achieve victory (2: 2 on the sum of two matches and 5: 4 in the penalty shootout). San Julia became the first Andorran team to qualify for the next round of European competitions. In the second round, the club lost in a two-game battle to Bulgarian “Levski” (0: 9). Riera took part in all 4 fights.
Then, the Portuguese moved to the club “Andorra” from the capital of the principality of the same name. He played in the lower divisions of Spain for two seasons. In 2011, Manuel Veiga joined the Cyprus APOP Kiniras, who competed in the second division of the island state. At the end of the 2011/12 season, the team took 12th place and flew to the third division. In the summer of 2012, Riera signed a two-year contract with Ayia Napa, which for the first time reached the top division of Cyprus. The Portuguese spent six months in the camp of the Cypriots, played 14 matches and scoring 2 goals.
In 2013, he returned to Andorra, joining the San Julia team. Riera took part in the final match of the Cup of Andorra, in which his club lost to Unio Esportiva Santa Coloma with a score (2: 3), and he himself became the author of one of the goals. In the summer of 2013 he moved to Lusitance. As part of the team, he participated in two games of the first qualifying round of the Champions League against Faroese EB / Streymour. On the sum of two meetings, the Andorrans lost with the score (3:7).
Since 2014, Riera has been playing for Andorra. In the 2014/15 season, he scored 13 goals in 26 games in Segunda Catalonia, becoming the second scorer in the team, losing only two goals to Argentinian Dario Icerna. As a result of the tournament, Andorra entered the Example of Catalonia. In January 2016, at one of the training sessions, Riera had a conflict with fitness coach Jordi Benet, after which Riera was suspended from training due to undisciplined behavior.
