"Victoria (store chain)"
- CONTENT--
Victoria is a Russian private chain of food stores founded in 1993 in Kaliningrad. Initially, it was managed by the Kaliningrad company of the same name (it also managed the networks “Kvartal”, “Cheap” and “one small wholesale Cash hypermarket”). In 2011-2012, Victoria was acquired by the Moscow retailer Dixie.
History
The company "Victoria" was founded in 1993 by entrepreneurs Nikolai Vlasenko, Alexander Zaribko and Vladimir Katsman in Kaliningrad. At first, the company and its warehouses were located on the territory of the former Königsberg defensive barracks of the 40s of the XIX century "Kronprinz" on the modern street Lithuanian Val.
In 2003, the group of companies for the first time in Russia introduced a process approach to management, creating a management model based on customer orientation and lean approach.
At the end of December 2008, Victoria was included in the list of companies that will receive state support during the economic crisis.
As of March 2011, the owners of the company were Nikolai Vlasenko (37.41% of the shares), Alexander Zaribko (32.08%), Vladimir Katsman (28.51%), the Cypriot company Greenberg Investments Limited (2%). As of March 2011, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company was Vladimir Katsman, General Director Alexander Zaribko.
In early February 2011, it became known that the shareholders of the Moscow trading network “Dixie” agreed with the owners of “Victoria” to buy the latter. As expected, Dixie will pay about 20 billion rubles (excluding the debt of Victoria). As a result of the transaction, Mercury Group (the main owner of Dixie) was expected to receive 50% plus 1 share in the combined company, and the current owners of Victoria – slightly less than 15%. According to analysts, as a result of the merger, a retailer will be created, which will take the third (fifth, taking into account foreign networks) place in Russia in terms of revenue. The deal was closed in mid-July 2011. In May 2011, it became known that discounters “Kvartal”, “Cheap” and “Family piggy bank”, owned by “Victoria”, will be renamed into stores “Dixy” (except stores in the Kaliningrad region), and supermarkets under the brand “Victoria” (19 stores) will retain the sign.
In January 2019, it became known about the sale of part of the Victoria trading network in Moscow and the Moscow region. Some of the stores are claimed by X5 Retail Group. Kaliningrad stores of the retail chain remain in the Dixie Group of Companies due to supply difficulties.
In 2020, the retail chain began to open in St. Petersburg on the site of some closed SPAR stores, but in the summer the media said that the retail chain was closing stores in St. Petersburg.
On August 1, 2023, X5 Group announced that it had reached agreements to acquire the network.
Activities
In total, in the network in Moscow, the Moscow region and the Kaliningrad region at the beginning of 2019, there are 129 Victoria supermarkets, including 50 in the Moscow region.
