"Village Tales"

--- CONTENT ---
The "Tales of the village" (Cypriot dialect: village= village) is a Cypriot comedy television series which was aired by RIK1 and RIK Sat's satellite channel. It is the longest-running series of Cypriot television. The series began broadcasting in 1996 and was completed in 2006. In 2010–2011 new episodes (59) of the series were aired.

Background
The series' screenwriter, Municipality of Andrew, began writing the series in 1996 on the occasion of the 1996 municipal elections. The trigger was the descent of several candidate communities in small villages of 50-60 voters, in which one would expect a single candidate and therefore the failure to hold elections. The screenwriter wanted to record the fact of the existence of the many candidates in a small community of 50 voters, writing the "Tales of the field".

Only 7 episodes were originally written, but due to the big impact the series had on the public, 11 more were aired. Then another 12 and then another 40. By 2006 when the series was completed, a total of 451 episodes were aired. In 2010–2011, a few more episodes were filmed with the old and new actors.

The series was filmed in the villages of Kleros, Psilofos, Second, Akaki and Pera.
