Vitello belonged to the Vitelli family and was the son of Camillo Vitelli, Count of Montone. He is also known for being the first husband of Angela de' Rossi, a member of the Rossi family from Parma.

### Military Career

A man of great military skill, Vitello was among the favourites of Popes Leo X and Clement VII. He joined Giovanni Rossetto (†1505) to conquer Rimini and return it to Pandolfo IV Malatesta. From November 1507, he served as a mercenary for the Venetians, who used him in some battles against the Austrians (1508). His military prowess earned him many praises, as evidenced by the fact that General Giorgio Cornaro (1454-1527), brother of the queen of Cyprus Catherine Cornaro, wanted him to host his palace.

### Later Life and Death

Vitello's later life is not well documented. However, it is known that he died in Naples in May 1528.
