Vlastimil Petržela

Biography

Vlastimil Petržela (born July 20, 1953) is a Czechoslovak and Czech former football player and coach.

### Player Career

Petržela began his career with Sokol Kraslice na Hané. He later played for TJ OP Prostějov and FC Zbrojovka Brünn in the 1974/75 season. In 1976, he returned to TJ OP Prostějov, where he played until 1978. He then moved to Sigma ZTS, spending two years with the club.

During his military service from 1980 to 1981, Petržela played for Gvezda Ore. After his military service, he was included in the Czechoslovak national team's application for the 1982 World Cup in Spain. On June 17, 1982, he made his debut for the national team as a substitute in a group stage match against Kuwait. This was his only appearance for the national team.

### Club Career

Petržela played for several clubs throughout his career, including Sigma Olomouc, RH Cheb, and Slavia Prague.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Petržela went on to become a coach. He coached Zenit St. Petersburg from December 2002 to May 2006.

Personal Life

Petržela was born in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).
