"Vyborg cellulose"

OJSC "Vyborg pulp" is a pulp and paper mill, the city-forming enterprise of the village of Soviet. On May 12, 1926, in the village of Johannes, the company officially began the construction of a sulphite cellulose plant. The construction was completed the following year, at the same time the first batch of sulphite unwhitened cellulose was produced. May 12 is traditionally celebrated Day of the plant. The plant is located near Vyborg, which has a seaport and railway connections with both Russia and Finland. A notable period in the history of the plant was 1998-2000, when the company was captured by its employees and managed collectively.

History

Finnish period
On May 12, 1926, Hackman (Finland) laid the first stone for the construction of a sulphite cellulosic plant.

May 19, 1927 The construction is completed, the first product - sulphite unbleached cellulose was developed.

After the Winter War, according to the Moscow Treaty signed on March 12, 1940, the settlement of Johannes, as part of the Vyborg province, was transferred to the USSR.

Soviet period
March 1940 – September 1941 It was planned to develop in 1941:

21,000 tons of pulp by cooking
17,651 tons of commercial pulp
3,055 tons of paper.

The period of the Great Patriotic War
From July 1, 1941 to May 31, 1944, the village was occupied by Finnish troops.

Post-war period
January 1946 After restoration, the first boiler was put into operation, commercial pulp was obtained. In 1946, 3 boilers were put into operation. 5,976 tons of pulp were produced for cooking.

April 1947.
A paper-making machine for processing pulp sorting waste with a capacity of 4,500 tons per year was launched.

February 1949.
A sulfite-alcohol plant with a capacity of 280,000 dcl alcohol per year was commissioned.

August 1955.
The yeast workshop with a capacity of 1,315 tons of protein yeast per year began to work.

1956.
After the reconstruction of 1953-55, the design capacity of the plant was achieved. In 1956 it was established:
pulp by cooking - 34,703 tons
commercial pulp - 30,411 tons
paper total - 8,402 tons
ethanol - 200,000 dcl
feed yeast - 340 tons

September 1961.
Start of the carbon dioxide workshop with a capacity of up to 1,600 tons per year.

1961-1985.
The company is stable. State plans and socialist commitments are being fulfilled.

May 17, 1985
The Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a resolution on the general reconstruction of the enterprise with the involvement of foreign companies.

1988.
Reconstruction of the plant is completed.
Commissioned:

pulp production capacity of 63,000 tons per year
paper base capacity of 60,000 tons per year
paper processing capacity of 30,000 tons per year
production of alkali processing with a capacity of 6,200 tons of feed yeast per year.

116 109 m2 of housing was commissioned, a number of other industrial and social facilities were built.
