Vygoleksinsky collection is a Slavic manuscript of the XII century of Galician-Volyn origin. It is located in the collection of the Russian State Library.
History
The manuscript was created at the end of the XII century in the Galician-Volyn principality. According to the record of the XIII century, its owner the monk Theophilus bequeathed the collection to the Novgorod Yuriev Monastery. The entry of the manuscript into the Novgorod lands is associated with Archbishop Anthony or someone from his entourage. In the XVII century the collection continued to be in the Yuriev monastery. Then, at the end of the XVII century, he got into the library of the Old Believer Cross-Exaltation Cathedral Chapel of the Vygolexinsk Communion from which he got his name.
From the Vygoleksinsky dormitory in 1862, the manuscript was received by the Olonets governor A. A. Philosophers, who handed it over to the secretary of the Russian Imperial Archaeological Society D. V. Polenov. Polenov made the first scientific report on the collection and in 1878 the Vygoleksi collection entered the library of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museums.
In 1977, the manuscript was published in type with Greek parallel texts.
Composition
The Vygoleksi collection contains the oldest Slavic lists of the lives of St. Nifontus of Cyprus (in brief) and St. Theodore Studite. In addition to them, the collection includes the beginning of the apocryphal teaching, inscribed in the manuscript in the XIII or XIV century. The life of Theodor Studit belongs to the Bulgarian translations of the X century. The translation was edited by Russian scribes, which is confirmed by the presence of East Slavic vocabulary.
The collection is written on sheets of parchment measuring 19.1 by 14.3 cm and consists of 171 sheets. All but two were written by one anonymous scribe. Of the jewelry in the manuscript are two zoomorphic screensavers: Old Byzantine style and woven. They are ink and unpainted.
