Warnow CV 2900
The ships of type WARNOW CV 2900 were a further development of the ships of type WARNOW CV 2600. They were built at Kvaerner Warnow Werft GmbH. The client was Interorient Navigation Co., Limassol, Cyprus.
The most obvious difference to the previous series was that by raising the superstructures a layer of containers could be driven more on deck.
Short description
The ships were designed and built according to the regulations of Germanischer Lloyd. The containers were stowed in six cargo holds, which were sealed weather-tight by pontoon hatch covers. The cargo holds contained stowage frames for the transport of 40-foot containers, which also allowed the transport of 20-foot containers in the longitudinal direction. The storage of 45-foot containers was possible on deck in the second location.
The ship's hull was made in longitudinal frame construction. Higher-strength steel with a yield strength of 355 N/m2 was used in the highly loaded areas of the hatch sleeve, main deck, shear passage and parts of the pilgrimage.
The engine room was located in the area of the frames 40-77. In it was the main engine. This slow-running long-stroke diesel engine of the type DMR - 8 K 80 MC-C (Man license) was equipped with a comprehensive, PC-supported diagnostic system, which recognized imminent problems before the occurrence of the damage, so that the crew was able to act prophylactically. Production took place at the Dieselmotorenwerk Vulkan, Rostock site (DMR). The engine was charged by two exhaust gas turbochargers from MAN B&W. The engine was designed for operation with high-viscosity fuels up to 700 cSt/50 °C.
The propeller was a 6-wing fixed propeller with a diameter of 7.30 m and produced a thrust of 1920 kN. The manufacturer was the Mecklenburger Metallguss Waren (MMG).
All on-board jobs complied with the regulations of Germanischer Lloyd and the See-Beberufsgenossenschaft.
