**Diya'at Diya'a**
Diya'at Diya'a is a Syrian comedy series with a satirical tone, set in the village of Um Al-Tanafis Al-Fawqa, which was first aired on Abu Dhabi TV in 2008. In 2010, a second season was produced, considered to be the final one. The second season featured Abu Shamlah (the fugitive) from the village of Al-Takhrima, played by actor Muhammad Hadidi.
The series was filmed in the mountainous areas of the village of Samra, located in the Kassab region of Latakia Governorate, Syria. Each episode has its own unique story, but they are all interconnected. The series portrays a simple and genuine way of life, with beautiful coexistence between humans and nature, as a means to escape from absolute slavery to technology in the era of digitalization and technology.
The most distinctive feature of this work is its local dialect, where the actors speak a dialect derived from the Latakia dialect. They use colloquial expressions that are still used in the region, which are translated into Modern Standard Arabic in the series.
Most of the actors in the series are from Latakia city, and the two main characters in Diya'at Diya'a are Nidal Siqri (played by Bassam Yakhour) and Abu Khamees (played by Nidal Siqri). Other notable characters include Adel Al-Fasad (played by Abdul-Nasser Marqabi), a member of the agricultural association and "writer" of reports submitted to local authorities, known as "Al-Fasad" in the local dialect. He is also the owner of the only agricultural tractor in the village.
Other characters represent authority figures, such as Abu Nader (played by George Jabara), the head of the police station who was unlucky enough to be stationed in a remote village and dreams of committing a crime before leaving service. The Mukhtar (played by Zahir Ramadan) has lost his value as an authoritarian figure and is no longer needed.
The series also features Deiba, the wife of Joda (played by Tolay Haroun), who suffers from her husband's lack of respect for her and his physical abuse. Badi'a, the wife of As'ad (played by Amal Sa'd al-Din), tries hard to make her husband a man who can stand up to Joda's tricks and thefts.
**Synopsis**
The series consists of two parts: the first part has 27 episodes, while the second part has 30. The script was written by Dr. Mamduh Hamada, directed by Leith Hajjou, and produced by Samah Company.
Each episode begins with a voiceover performed by announcer Muhammad Said:
"This is a comedy series that takes place in a village called Um Al-Tanafis Al-Fawqa in the present day, but it has been 'executed' from modern technology."
The idea behind the series is to provide an alternative perspective on technology and communication, highlighting their impact and the consequences of their absence for simple people. The intention is not to mock these people's naivety, but rather to satirize the negative consequences of modern civilization and the complexities of life in the digital age.
